Ibrahim Kamara new artistic director at Off-White.
Off White appoints Ibrahim Kamara as artistic director six months after the death of Virgil Abloh.
The death of Virgil Abloh last November was seen as an earthquake in the fashion world. The talented stylist left a void at Off-White when he died of cancer at the age of 41. On its Instagram account, the brand announced the succession of Off-White. It will be Ibrahim Kamara, the editor of the famous British fashion magazine Dazed.
If Off White chose Instagram to announce the arrival of Ibrahim Kamara at the helm of the brand, it's no coincidence. It is indeed via this network that Virgil Abloh and the young designer met three years ago, before starting their collaboration.
As the brand's new Art & Image Director, the British designer from Sierra Leone will be responsible for supervising a team of designers, leading the artistic direction of Off-White's collections, image and content as well as than the recently opened beauty project, Paperwork.
“Virgil will always be with us. With me. He changed the world and leaves an indelible mark on whoever met him,” said Ibrahim Kamara.
Reacting to his appointment, Ibrahim Kamara notably shared his honor of “being part of the team that will tell the rest of the story that Virgil has started to write for all of us. »
