Givenchy
Since its foundation in 1952, the house of Givenchy has undergone a remarkable evolution, always staying in tune with each era, largely thanks to their Creative Directors, Riccardo Tisci and now Matthew M Williams, who is making his debut at the helm of one of the oldest fashion houses.
Matthew embodies, in many ways, the quintessential contemporary designer, sharing more traits with an intellectual and theorist than a traditional couturier. He has a fascinating ability to capture the essence of the present moment, using it as a foundation to reflect upon and comment on current living conditions. With the support of Givenchy's ateliers, he takes his first steps into the world of haute couture.
Matthew has managed to breathe new life into the historic house, while allowing its heritage to inspire his vision of the present time. His approach involves bringing together iconic elements of Givenchy or more personal ones, making the creation as intimate as possible while respecting the distinctive codes of the house.
